More about the film
Overview
Karen McCoy is released from prison with nothing but the clothes on her back. Before being incarcerated, Karen was the bank robber of her time, but now she wishes for nothing more than to settle down and start a new life. Unfortunately, between a dirty parole officer, old business partners, and an idiot ex, she will have to do the unthinkable in order to save her son.
What critics said
Critics broadly found the film an anonymous and derivative heist thriller that recycles familiar vault-robbery devices without matching stronger examples of the genre.
What sets it apart
- Karen's mastery as a thief is used against her when Schmidt and the parole officer manipulate her and threaten her son.
- Karen's attempts to reconnect with her son and her determination to rescue him drive the robbery plot.
- The climactic criminal job depends on Karen's specialized knowledge and high-tech manipulation of a bank vault.
- Karen's parole officer collaborates with Schmidt to force her into the job rather than support her attempt to go straight.
