The Helicopter Heist

Two childhood friends decide to try one last heist — to rob millions from Sweden's safest cash depot. But the police are already on their heels.

The Helicopter Heist (2024) is a Swedish crime thriller miniseries created by Ronnie Sandahl and released on Netflix. Two childhood friends, Rami (Mahmut Suvakci) and Michel (Ardalan Esmaili), decide to attempt one last heist, aiming to steal millions from Sweden's safest cash depot. Their plan has to survive the attention of police who are already closing in on them, and every episode turns on careful preparation, tense rehearsals, and the constant risk that one wrong move will expose the crew. Leonie (Iskra Kostic) and Axel (Erik Svedberg-Zelman) add pressure and loyalty to the scheme as the stakes rise. Running eight episodes of roughly 45 minutes each, this limited series is a single continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its tone is taut and propulsive, with a grounded, gritty texture that recalls Scandinavian crime drama. Set in contemporary Stockholm, it lands with the bittersweet weight of old friendship tested under pressure. Fans of Money Heist and other heist sagas will find resonance in its meticulous planning and mounting dread.

Audiences rate the miniseries positively, praising its tense heist structure and grounded take on a true-crime-inspired robbery.
