Overview
A Time Prophet predicted that Kai would be the one to destroy the divine order in the league of the 20,000 planets, someday that will happen, but not today. Today a cowardly security guard, an undead assassin, a female with a body designed for sex and a robot head madly in love with her all make up the crew of the spaceship Lexx, the most powerful weapon in the two universes.
Lexx (1997-2002) is a Canadian-German science fiction comedy that plays its cosmic stakes as cheap, lurid farce. Kai, a reluctant hero bound by a prophecy that he will one day overturn a divine order across twenty thousand planets, is pulled into the orbit of the living spaceship Lexx, billed as the most powerful weapon in two universes. His companions are a cowardly security guard, an undead assassin, the ship itself, and a robot head hopelessly in love with an android designed for sex. Each episode drops the outlaw crew onto a new planet with a grotesque villain and a fresh scheme, while bounty hunters, cosmic authorities and their own incompetence keep them running. Across four seasons and sixty-one episodes the stories move along one continuing journey with a loose larger arc. The tone is irreverent and deliberately rough, blending broad slapstick, dark satire and adult provocation with a mockery of grand destiny. Its mismatched misfits and bold, uneven ambition appeal to viewers who enjoy absurdity, and its cult following rewards those who like their space adventure gleefully bad.
