Sailor Moon Crystal

Usagi Tsukino is chosen to be a guardian of justice and is sent on a quest to locate a Silver Crystal before the Dark Kingdom invades the Earth.

Sailor Moon Crystal (2014-2016) is a Japanese anime remake of the magical girl classic, produced by Toei Animation and broadcast on TOKYO MX and Niconico, with an episode runtime of about twenty-five minutes. Kotono Mitsuishi voices Usagi Tsukino, an ordinary Tokyo schoolgirl who is chosen to become Sailor Moon, a guardian of justice. Hisako Kanemoto voices Ami Mizuno, Sailor Mercury, a brilliant classmate who joins her, and Kenji Nojima voices Mamoru Chiba, the mysterious Tuxedo Mask. The engine of the series is a quest: the heroines must locate a Silver Crystal before the Dark Kingdom invades Earth, and each episode builds around a monstrous demon attack that the team must defeat through transformation sequences and combined powers. Across three seasons and thirty-nine episodes, the story is a serialized magical girl saga where friendship, romance, and school life sit beside the battles. The tone is bright and earnest, with a shoujo sensibility and a heroic sincerity that rewards viewers who enjoy transformation heroics. Fans of Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Madoka Magica will find resonance in its blend of teen drama and supernatural combat.

Audiences broadly rate this faithful, visually polished remake of the classic magical girl story positively, with strong appreciation for its close adaptation of the manga.
