María de Todos los Ángeles

María de Todos los Ángeles (2009-2014) is a Mexican telenovela-style family comedy created by Mara Escalante for Las Estrellas. Mara Escalante also stars as María, a warm-hearted woman whose everyday struggles and romantic entanglements unfold among a close circle of neighbors and relatives. Ariel Miramontes plays Albertano, a figure whose presence adds comic friction and affection to her world, while Alma Cero as Rosa Aurora and Montserrat Marañon as Betzabé anchor the family and friendship threads. Pedro Romo and Carlos Cobos both take on the role of Don Carmelo across the two seasons. The engine of the show is simple and sweet: María wants stability and love for the people around her, and each episode is built from a fresh mix of misunderstandings, small crises, and neighborhood mishaps that resolve with warmth. Running across two seasons and thirty-three short episodes of about twenty-two minutes each, it is a light, continuing soap built on melodrama and sitcom timing. Set in contemporary urban Mexico, it carries the broad, affectionate register of the Latin American telenovela tradition, with a cozy, hopeful, and gently comic tone. Fans of Juana la virgen, Rosalinda, and El Chavo del Ocho will find resonance in its heart and humor.

Audiences rate the family comedy-drama positively for its warmth, humor, and charming central character.
