Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso, an American football coach, moves to England when he's hired to manage a soccer team—despite having no experience. With cynical players and a doubtful town, will he get them to see the Ted Lasso Way?

Ted Lasso (2020-present) is an American streaming comedy-drama created by Bill Lawrence, Jason Sudeikis, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt for Apple TV. Jason Sudeikis plays Ted Lasso, an affable American football coach hired to manage an English Premier League soccer club despite knowing nothing about the sport. He faces a bitter, skeptical locker room led by striker Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster) and veteran midfielder Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), along with a club owner, Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham), who hired him to sabotage the team. Each episode is built from practice-field rivalries, press conferences, pub conversations and small private struggles, with Ted's relentless optimism repeatedly tested by players and staff who would rather he fail. The series runs across four seasons so far and moves like an ongoing ensemble story, with side characters gaining their own arcs. Its tone is warm, witty and sincere, balancing sharp humor with real emotional vulnerability and a feel good glow. Set in present-day London and its suburbs, it has the sunny, British-pub comfort of the workplace sitcom. Fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Schitt's Creek and The Good Place will find the same generous, character-driven comedy.

Viewers broadly acclaim Ted Lasso as an original, funny and warm workplace comedy whose cast chemistry and uplifting tone leave audiences feeling good after each episode.
