Echo 3

When brilliant scientist Amber Chesborough vanishes along the Colombia-Venezuela border, her brother and her husband—both elite U.S. Army commandos—struggle to find her amid a guerilla war, discovering that the woman they love might have a secret.

Echo 3 (2022-2023) is a United States prestige action thriller series created by Mark Boal for Apple TV. When brilliant scientist Amber Chesborough (Jessica Ann Collins) vanishes along the Colombia-Venezuela border, her brother Alex 'Bambi' Chesborough (Luke Evans) and her husband Eric 'Prince' Haas (Michiel Huisman) must find her amid a guerilla war. Both men are elite Army commandos, and their mission is complicated by the presence of private contractors, drug cartel violence, and the local figures who shape every stage of the search. The engine of each episode is the grinding pursuit of a hostage through hostile jungle terrain, with the men forced to trust and distrust one another. Each hour moves brisk and tense, with a single continuous story rather than standalone cases. The series runs for one season of ten episodes, and its tone is gritty, visceral, and propulsive, with a relentless sense of danger. Fans of Narcos and Generation Kill will find resonance in its blend of military realism, cartel conflict, and morally compromised soldiers.

Critics were mixed, praising the high-stakes action and tense premise while finding the character drama uneven.

• Narcosshared tense military action, hostage rescue, and cartel-driven conflict in Latin America
• Special Forcesshared elite soldier protagonists, covert operations, and high-stakes rescue missions
• Generation Killshared gritty realism around private military contractors and war-zone moral ambiguity
