Lovestruck in the City

Heart stolen by a free-spirited woman after a beachside romance, a passionate architect sets out to reunite with her on the streets of Seoul.

Lovestruck in the City (2020-2021) is a South Korean romance drama series created by Jung Hyun-jung for Kakao TV. Architect Park Jae-won (Ji Chang-wook) is struck by a free-spirited woman after a beachside romance and sets out to find her again on the streets of Seoul. Kim Ji-won plays Lee Eun-oh, the woman at the center of his pursuit, and Kim Min-seok plays Choi Kyung-joon, one of the friends and rivals who complicates the search. Each of the seventeen half-hour episodes builds around a particular topic or relationship, moving between present-day city life and memories of how the two first met. The engine is simple and emotional: a man trying to reclaim a love he lost, while his friends, misunderstandings and old wounds stand in his way. The result is a single-season contemporary romance with a light, warm touch that avoids melodrama. Its tone is romantic, breezy and relatable, with a good soundtrack and strong chemistry between the leads. Fans of Crash Landing on You, It's Okay to Not Be Okay and Something in the Rain will find resonance in its modern urban romance and gentle emotional honesty.

Audiences praise the romantic chemistry, relatable light tone and well-told self-contained episodes, with a positive audience reception.
