Oggy and the Cockroaches

Oggy, an anthropomorphic cat, would prefer to spend his days watching television and eating, but is continuously pestered by three roaches: Joey, Marky and Dee Dee. The cockroaches' slapstick mischief ranges from plundering Oggy's refrigerator to hijacking the train he just boarded. In many situations Oggy is also helped by Jack, who is more violent and short-tempered than him and is also annoyed by the cockroaches. Bob, a short-tempered bulldog, also appears in the show, and is Oggy's neighbor.

Oggy and the Cockroaches (1999-present) is a French animated slapstick comedy series created by Jean-Yves Raimbaud and produced for France 3, Canal+ Family and Gulli. Oggy, an anthropomorphic cat who would rather spend his days watching television and eating, is the central figure, and his peace is constantly shattered by three cockroaches named Joey, Marky and Dee Dee. Their schemes range from plundering Oggy's refrigerator to hijacking the train he has just boarded. Oggy is frequently aided, and goaded, by Jack, a more volatile and short-tempered ally who is equally irritated by the insects, while Oggy's short-tempered bulldog neighbor Bob adds further friction. Each episode is a short self-contained burst of wordless physical gags, so the show plays well as a quick background watch or a family viewing. The tone stays bright, breezy and gently cartoonish, with peril that looks dramatic but never truly harms anyone. Fans of Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes will find the same escalating chase-and-revenge energy here, delivered across an eight-season run that keeps returning to the same reliable rivalry.

Audiences rate the series positively, valuing its slapstick gags and wordless physical comedy that work across ages.
